It ain’t easy being green.
Just ask Vincent Kartheiser,
who plays the scheming
Pete Campbell on Mad Men.

This guy may be all
about the green on TV,
but he’s all about the
green-living in real life.

He appeared on MSNBC yesterday
afternoon to discuss his eco-friendly
existence,
in which he shuns cars, meat,
Yes,
children and toilets.
It’s like being Amish,
but even less fun.

(Sorry to any Amish out there
who might be reading this.
Oh, wait…)
“I’ve been a vegetarian for
four years and I have chosen
not to have children,
which are both green choices
in my life,”
he stated.
“I also xeriscaped my lawn.”

For those of you
who don’t know,
“xeriscaping” involves
withstand drought conditions.”

And for those of you
who are New Yorkers,
a “lawn” is a small patch of
grassy land at the back of
a residence.
He went on to discuss how he
gave up driving several years
ago after the engine in his car
flooded.
He began to take public transportation,
and has been doing it ever since.

“It made my life better to slow
down a bit and walk through
the city.”
Earlier this year he told the
UK Observer about his
“I don’t have a toilet at the moment.
My house is just a wooden box.”

“I mean I am planning to get
a toilet at some point.
But for now I have to go
to the neighbors.”

Now, our apartment could be
on fire and we’d still think twice
about knocking on our neighbors
door.
But Vincent is totally cool just
waltzing in to use their toilet?
This guy is kind of awesome.
