Lena Dunham: Congenitally incapable of writing about anything besides being a female

November 15, 2014

In Not That Kind of Girl, Dunham, who—of course!—attended Oberlin College, details a bumbling sexual experience with a male “campus Republican” that occurred smack-dab in the midst of the Bush II era. By her own account she offered zero resistance, either physically or verbally, up until the point where she realizes her one-night-paramour isn’t wearing a condom, whereupon she dismounts and tells him to leave, at which point he dutifully leaves.

Now, nearly a decade later, she has solemnly decided that this seemingly consensual encounter was, in fact, RAPE. For modern feminists, claiming to have been raped, whether it actually happened or not, is the equivalent of achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. As a result of this highly dubious “revelation,” Dunham raked in a wheelbarrow full of invisible feminist-hero poker chips to spend at her discretion.

Unfortunately for Dunham, last week the other Rape Shoe fell with an ugly thud, and now she’s being portrayed as a sexual predator who performed some highly skeevy acts with her younger sister Grace.

The term “sexual predator” is crucial here, because in Not That Kind of Girl, Dunham used it to describe her own behavior, but now she’s backpedaling and claiming she’s not that kind of sexual predator. Facing a backlash not only from conservative sites but also among her intersectional feminist allies and comrades and sisters, she now insists her use of the term was a poorly concocted joke that flew right over the balding heads of rapidly aging right-wing dudebros.

National Review scorches Lena Dunham’s latest book

October 30, 2014

Here is a list of things in Lena Dunham’s life that do not strike Lena Dunham as being unusual: growing up in a $6.25 million Tribeca apartment; attending a selection of elite private schools; renting a home in Hollywood Hills well before having anything quite resembling a job and complaining that the home is insufficiently “chic”; the habitual education of the men in her family at Andover; the services of a string of foreign nannies; being referred to a homework therapist when she refused to do her homework and being referred to a relationship therapist when she fought with her mother; constant visits to homeopathic doctors, and visits to child psychologists three times a week; having a summer home on a lake in Connecticut, and complaining about it; writing a “voice of her generation” memoir in which ordinary life events among members of her generation, such as making student-loan payments or worrying about the rent or health insurance, never come up; making casual trips to Malibu; her grandparents’ having taken seven-week trips to Europe during her mother’s childhood; spending a summer at a camp at which the costs can total almost as much as the median American family’s annual rent; being histrionically miserable at said camp and demanding to be brought home early; demanding to be sent back to the same expensive camp the next year.

Lena Dunham’s boyfriend used to date Scarlett Johannson

March 7, 2014

“GIRLS” star Lena Dunham was stunned to discover that her boyfriend Jack Antonoff used to date sultry Scarlett Johansson – and now she’s grilling the tight-lipped rocker about what ELSE he hasn’t told her, say insiders.

Lena – who plays Hannah Horvath on the hit HBO show she created – has dated the guitarist with the pop band fun. for nearly two years. But, incredibly, she had no idea he and Scarlett were high school sweethearts until she stumbled across a picture of them on the website Old Loves.

“My mind is going to explode,” said Lena. “She’s beautiful, he’s beautiful, but it was just so surreal to be looking through this blog…and then there’s my boyfriend.”

Jack and “Avengers” stunner Scarlett, both 29, dated from 2001 to 2002 when they were classmates at New York City’s prestigious Professional Children’s School.

When Lena, 27, learned about the old matchup, a source says she began interrogating Jack like a detective.

“What else have you been keeping from me?” she demanded to know, according to her pal.

“Jack is a bit of an oddball and he thought the fact that he dated Scarlett was something his girlfriend wouldn’t want to know,” explained the pal. “He didn’t want to make her think she had to measure up to such a bombshell.

“Unlike Jack, Lena is an open book. She talks on and on about the lousy boyfriends she’s had in the past, and she can’t believe Jack’s never said a word about dating one of the world’s most famous women.

“Jack’s been on the road touring for more than 10 years, and now Lena is insisting he tell her about every hook-up or wild adventure he’s had!”

To make matters even more difficult, Jack is also in hot water with Scarlett, who’s engaged to French journalist Romain Dauriac after a failed marriage to screen hunk Ryan Reynolds.

When the beauty learned that Jack had been hiding their old relationship, an insider says she called and demanded to know: “What, are you ashamed of me?”

Jack’s head is spinning, said the source. “He can’t win for losing. He thought he was being a gentleman by keeping his lips sealed, but now he’s catching hell from both sides!”

Lena Dunham feminist hypocrite

January 20, 2014

Within two hours of offering $10,000 for unretouched images from Annie Leibovitz’s photography session with the HBO star, we received six allegedly unaltered images. As expected, they’re great — Lena looks fantastic. Aside from the obvious lighting tweaks that any publication would make, the unretouched images are pretty perfect. Which makes some of the adjustments — slightly narrowing a jaw or raising a waistline — seem that much more unnecessary. Why bother? These slight tweaks, the “you look great, but you’d look just a little more great if…” stuff is insidious.

But this is what Vogue does, and it’s interesting to see what Leibovitz and editor-in-chief Anna Wintour felt that they needed to “fix” before pictures of Lena could be presented to readers.

Darling of The Left Lena Dunham notes Memorial Day with unfunny urine joke

May 27, 2013

Memorial Day is a time for all Americans, no matter their party affiliation, to remember the sacrifices and heroism of our troops.
Girls creator Lena Dunham figured the holiday was a grand excuse to uncork a potty joke via social media.
Dunham, who famously recorded that “First Time” video on behalf of the future Scandal in Chief’s re-election, followed up a previous urine-themed Tweet on May 25 with a new one tied to Memorial Day.

Lena Dunham hates women portrayed as vapid sex objects

May 26, 2013

According to Lena Dunham, imitation isn’t always the sincerest form of flattery. After the 27-year-old learned that her HBO hit Girls had been parodied in a porn titled This Ain’t Girls XXX, the Golden Globe winner expressed her disdain via a series of Twitter posts.

“I wish I had a better attitude about the Girls porn parody,” she tweeted May 23. “I really can never predict what will trouble me and it’s simply exhausting.”

HBO show ‘Girls’ a flop Obama Media calls a breakout hit

March 9, 2013

Nobody watches HBO’s “Girls.”
In a country of over 300 million, 866,000 viewers is statistically zero.
And yet:
Lena Dunham, creator of the HBO series ‘Girls,’ has quietly shaken up the writing staff for her breakout comedy-drama about a group of young women making their way in New York.
“Breakout?” Season two’s ratings are worse than season one’s.
Is this nonsense just that the media is too bubbled and provincial to understand reality? Or is this the media manufacturing its own reality by blatantly lying in an effort to turn what isn’t even close to mainstream into something that is?
I’m willing to bet that more than 866,000 people canceled HBO out of the fear that while channel surfing they might accidentally see Lena Dunham naked.
“Girls” isn’t a breakout, it’s the new “30 Rock” — another embarrassingly low-rated “phenom” no one but the media loved.

Lena Dunham portrays women as vapid sex objects

January 18, 2013

And Dan Kois at Slate.com agreed, throwing his hat in the air: “It suggests the show has a future other than just taboo-breaking and sitcom-tradition-smashing. Anyways, my verdict: I liked this premiere! I came, you came hard, we all laughed.”
Of course, as even Mother Jones, the left-of left magazine wrote online last spring, the show featured “passionless sex, STIs, casual abortions, boring boyfriends, gay boyfriends, drugs, money woes, body image.”
Brave. Entertaining. Or—
At the risk of waxing hyperbolic, a sign of the decline of Western Civilization. If this is what passes for greatness to the generation of millenials, than nihilism and hopelessness have finally drenched the culture completely.
For those of us who appreciate wit, intelligence and class, much of today’s efforts by the entertainment industry are nothing more than smut and a desire to constantly push the envelope toward moral oblivion.

The sad desperate disgusting campaign of Barack Obama

October 31, 2012

Liberal film producer Michael Moore is out with a new “NSFW” (not safe for work) Moveon.org campaign ad featuring elderly nursing home residents cursing and describing the dirty things they will do if the Republican Party and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney win the election.

“I was born in 1915 during World War I. My first vote was in 1940 for Franklin D. Roosevelt and I have not missed an election since,” says 97-year-old Marie, in the video. “And I want the Republican Party to know, if your voter suppression throughout this beautiful country enables Romney to oust Barack Obama we will burn this motherfucker down. ”

“Si se puede,” adds her unidentified nursing home peer.

‘My First Time’ Obama video parody

October 29, 2012

A new Obama ad likening voting to losing one’s virginity has disgusted many conservatives since being released last week. Many have pointed out that it wasn’t long ago that such an ad would cause a candidate to bow their head with embarrassment, and deny any previous knowledge of its production.

Obama for America, the president’s campaign arm, however, is standing boldly by the advertisement amid the widespread ridicule. Not only that, they appear to be adding even more crass analogies to the mix.
