Monsanto MaryJane Weed patented

April 30, 2015

Monsanto, the multi-billion agribusiness giant, has announced today it has patented the first genetically modified strain of marijuana.

The news that has been welcomed by scientists and leaders of the agriculture business alike as a move forward towards the industrial use of marijuana and hemp products could bring a major shift towards marijuana policies in the U.S.A. and ultimately, to the world.

Under present US federal law, it is illegal to possess, use, buy, sell, or cultivate marijuana, since the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 classifies marijuana as a Schedule I drug, although it has been decriminalized to some extent in certain states, Monsanto’s interest in the field has been interpreted by experts as the precursor to “a major shift in marijuana policy in the US” as it is believed the company would not have invested so much time and energy if it had not had “previous knowledge” of the Federal government’s “openness” towards the future legalization of marijuana.

Is fighting the Taliban homophobic?

April 30, 2015

National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan’s intelligence agency – has arrested a would-be suicide bomber who says, he was gang-raped by Taliban commanders before sending him out for a suicide attack.

A statement issued today by NDS states that the victim of the gang-rape planned to carry out a suicide attack on the police headquarters of Bagrami District of Kabul, but he was arrested before he could reach to his target.

According to NDS statement rape cases are not unusual within the ranks of Taliban and Haqani network.

Bilal, the rape victim-turned suicide bomber has told NDS that he was gang-raped by Taliban commanders Muzamil, Hijrat alias Abuzar, Tahir and Hanzila in Bati Kot District of eastern Nangarhar province and then sent for a suicide attack.

NDS statements usually do not contain the exact date of the achievement, but they come after recent activities.
Last year a group of Taliban gang-raped cows in Joram District of Badakhshan province.

Zombie Hunter group disbanded after multiple causalities

April 30, 2015

New Mexico zombie hunters ‘The Furies’, spotlighted in a ZWN article HERE, have officially disbanded.

The only announcement made to the press was via their Twitter account. It simply read “Furies are no more. Good luck with all that, NM” (The NM presumably abbreviating New Mexico.

The Furies were well known for their theatrical approach to zombie killing. Dressing in the attire of The Baseball Furies from the cult Warriors movie, this young group of 12 team mates made a name for themselves fighting zombies throughout New Mexico and over the border too.

In fact the Fedaralies would often call on them for dangerous eradication operations.

So what happened and why did they disband?

ZWN spoke to officials on both sides of the border. The story we got in return underlines the dangers faced by zombie hunting teams on a daily basis.

Liberal policies fueled the Baltimore riots

April 30, 2015

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke (D) blasted “failed liberal government policies” for miring people in cities like Baltimore in “generational poverty” and argued that change in Baltimore “needs to start in the politics, the failed liberal Democrat policies” on Wednesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

Clarke declared, “with him [President Obama] making that statement about this Congress won’t enact any of his policies, you know, good for them. Because all these failed liberal government policies have done is mired black people in generational poverty, kept their kids in failing schools, chronically unemployed, they can’t find meaningful work, having to live in crime-infested neighborhoods, all under — by the way, I continue to hear the president talk about the economic recovery. Tell that to the people of Baltimore. Tell that to the people in the American ghettos who can’t find work, whose kids have to attend failing schools, who are living in poverty, tell that to them that there’s been — this wonderful economic recovery because they’ve been left behind, Sean.”

Conspiracy Theories that were proven true

April 29, 2015

Everyone has that one friend who’s a little too into conspiracy theories.

On the other hand, conspiracy theories only sound crazy when they aren’t totally true.

Here are a bunch of former conspiracy theories that ended up being completely true. (Just don’t show this to your friend who’s obsessed with 9/11, or you’ll never hear the end of it.)

Tough as nails John Kerry not afraid to go after Randy Quaid

April 29, 2015

Secretary of State John Kerry and the State Department struck back at Randy and Evi Quaid‘s lawsuit against them in a recent court filing.

The Quaids, late last year, filed the suit to get back the passports the U.S. government confiscated from them amid their growing slate of outstanding legal issues — among those, the alleged vandalism of their former home, and a felony warrant in California linked to a delinquent bill to an innkeeper.
