3 Americans ‘possessed’ after playing with a Ouija board in Mexico
October 10, 2014Three American friends have been taken to hospital after reportedly becoming ‘possessed’ by evil spirits while playing with a Ouija board.
Alexandra Huerta, 22, was playing the game with her brother Sergio, 23, and 18-year-old cousin Fernando Cuevas at a house in the village of San Juan Tlacotenco in south-west Mexico.
But minutes into it, she apparently started ‘growling’ and thrashing around in a ‘trance-like’ state

Ouija Boards can easily open doors -closing them again is another matter
October 10, 20141. My first mistake was calling a spirit a “coward”
My friend had mentioned that she had one, so I asked her to pull the board out so I could check it out. At first she said no, but then agreed to do it as long as she didn’t have to participate. After she had the board set up I asked “Is there anyone in here”….nothing. So, being a dumb teenager I said “If anything is in here and not talking, you’re a coward”. The board was put away after that.
Fast forward about a week later and have me sleeping upstairs on my couch. I wake up on a stereotypical “Stormy Night”. Thunder and lightning, wind and rain..the works. I look around to see why I woke up and couldn’t see a thing, and decide to try and fall back asleep. After laying there for about 30s I hear from downstairs “Get the boy” in a very raspy, wispy voice. I open my eyes and listen……nothing. Start to go back to sleep…”GET THE BOY”, it was MUCH louder this time. Then my downstairs door SLAMS shut. I freak the F*ck out because nobody slept down there and we had no drafts.

“Sea ice surrounding Antarctica reached a new record high extent this year”
October 10, 2014A new report from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) finds that the Antarctic ice cap has exceeded 20 million square kilometers, a freeze that hasn’t been seen since 1979 when the agency began to compile records.
“Sea ice surrounding Antarctica reached a new record high extent this year, covering more of the southern oceans than it has since scientists began a long-term satellite record to map sea ice extent in the late 1970s,” the NASA website reported on October 7.

Funeral parlors not eager to report ghostly goings on
October 10, 2014Although the police don’t appear to be covering up ghostly incidents (FT273:16–17), perhaps the funeral industry is shy about reporting them? After mentioning in a previous column the apparent absence of ghost reports from undertakers, morticians and other funeral industry professionals, I am delighted to learn of two recent stories suggesting exceptions to the rule.
