Carrie Fisher’s Warning to you young Whipper Snappers

Carrie Fisher has penned an
open letter to Lindsay Lohan,
Paris Hilton and Hollywood’s
young stars,
urging them to
“stop for a minute to
appreciate where you could be,”
WORLD ENTERTAINMENT
NEWS reports December 29th,
2010.

The Star Wars icon,
who has tackled her fair
share of problems,
is calling on the new wave
of troubled stars to learn
from her bad example,
clean up and stop throwing
away amazing opportunities
they’re given.
Her missive,
published in the new issue
of style magazine Black Book,
comes at the end of a year when
Lohan hit the headlines for
violating probation and bouncing
from jail to rehab and socialite
Hilton was caught with drugs
in her purse in Las Vegas.
In her caustic letter the
actress and author writes,
“(Lindsay’s) a mess.
She should back out of the
whole scene and move to the
f**king south of France.”

“Life in the spotlight can be cruel.
It sets you apart from other people,
so that life becomes more about
what you are than who you are.”

.
“That’s what happened to me.
It’s a privileged job, which
is why everyone wants it,
but it used to mean you earned
those privileges based on talent.
Now you can become famous
for being a spectacle…”
“Acquiring celebrity
can be an exciting thing,
but there never comes a time,
once you have it,
when you can relax and say,
‘Okay, I’m famous now.
Isn’t this great?’
Fame is something you
have to maintain,
like a weird garden…”
.

“Don’t imagine that Julia Roberts
is just kicking back in her house
with her kids.”

“My advice to Young Hollywood?
If you’re an actor,
learn another skill.
Write a book or play an instrument –
at the very least,
learn to manage your own finances…”
“I wish I’d known all of this earlier,
and I wish I’d paid more attention
to my life as it was going by.”

  1. This is good but I dont think any one will really do any thing about it because when your famous and have a ton of money the last thing you would think about is what others think.Or how you hurt others.

  2. you can see her nipple 🙂 hehe

  3. Carrie, nowadays too many “stars” have little or no self respect. They don’t even stop to think how good they’ve got it, and instead continue to act like kids.
    You’re an inspiration.

  4. Dear Carrie,

The advice you give above is actually very well put.

I remember when I was a younger man,
    you were stunning.

A woman should not worry about what
she “has” at that point in time.

From a man’s eyes, you were beautiful.

It is how we both grow up from that point
in time that truly defines an individual.
    Just remember,
    you never truly stop learning.

    Sincerely,
    A Long time admirer
