highly-rated Glee tribute

The hit Fox show has been blasted
by pressure group the Parents
Television Council (PTC) which has
deemed the episode the Worst
TV Show of the Week due to what
they described as the broadcast’s
‘explicit sexual content.’
A message posted on the
organisation’s website denounced
the episode’s ‘skimpy outfits’ and
‘sultry grinds’ during her hit song
I’m a Slave 4 U.
The hugely anticipated Britney
episode starred the 28-year-old
as herself appearing as a fantasy girl
for the McKinley High Glee club
singers who hallucinated about her
while under anesthesia at the dentist –
played by John Stamos.
The episode –
titled Britney/Brittany also featured
numbers by cast member Brittany –
played by former Beyonce back-up
dancer Heather Morris –
dressed in some of Britney‘s
raunchier outfits.

In the re-creation for the 2001
Madonna duet Me Against the Music
the PTC said the interpretation
included ‘plenty of girl-girl
bumping and grinding.’
The group also took the opportunity
to criticise the selection of the singer,
who has had a catalogue of
well-documented troubles,
because according to the group,
Spears wasn’t appropriate because
they don’t consider the singer to
be a suitable role model.

The message continued:
‘Glee earned its highest ratings ever
with this Britney Spears tribute,
drawing 13.3 million viewers.
‘A scary thought considering that
the mostly young teen/tween
audience basically witnessed an
endorsement of narcotics abuse,
public masturbation,
and school-sanctioned burlesque.
But perhaps most troubling is the
deification of a troubled pop star
into a symbol of empowerment
and self-esteem.’
.
.
‘Considering her stints in rehab,
her very public breakdowns,
and her questionable parenting skills,
there is absolutely no way Spears
should be considered a role model.’
‘The producers of the show can
spare us the old song-and-dance
about fallen celebs turning their
lives around.
What’s next?
Portraying Ike Turner
as a reformed feminist?’
The singer didn’t appear ruffled
by the controversy as she stepped
out on one of her daily shopping
trips in Los Angeles today.
.
.
Looking rather wild,
wearing a shapeless shirt,
dusty jeans and unbrushed hair,
she got on with her daily business
of adding to her no doubt
already vast wardrobe.
Meanwhile,
the singer is hard at work
and is said to have completed
three new songs and is steadily
working on producing more,
in a follow-up to hit 2009
album Circus.
