‘Sherlock Holmes’ movie review by 22moon.com

.

.

.

I’ve been putting off
writing this review
for a month.

Sherlock Holmes
and Doctor Watson
are so personal to me,
I wanted just the
right words,
and I doubt I have
them even now.

I grew up obsessed
with a few heros.
.
.

James Bond
was number one,
Sherlock Homes and
Doctor Watson
number two,
and a handful
of others.
.
.
.

I did not just
study these people,
I molded myself,
trained myself,
studied and
researched.

I was a nutty kid,
OK?
.
.
.

I do not regret
any of that,
it did me great good
later in life and
still does.

But about the movie.

I have read and
reread all the
Sherlock Homes works
by Doyle and many
adaptations of his
characters by others.
.
.
I saw all the
Basil Rathbone
movies as a kid.

A month before
I saw the new
Sherlock Homes
movie,
I watched every
single Basil Rathbone
Sherlock Holmes movie
again,
in order of filming,
all of them.

(Sometimes I obsess,
a mark of genius
or madness –
in my case I
suspect both.)
.
.
.

So then I watched
the Guy Ritchie movie.

Oh my gosh.

OH MY GOSH!
.
.
From start to finish,
how does one
describe perfection?

Robert Downey gave
his own style to Sherlock,
and it was beyond
amazing.

He captured the
very soul of Holmes.
.
.
The insanity,
the genius,
the lack of understanding
human emotion Holmes
had combined with the
frightening insights
into other people.
.
.
.

The addiction personality
when Holmes was bored,
the obsession when
Holmes was on a case.

Robert Downey Jr.
gave an Oscar winning
performance as
Sherlock Holmes.
.
.
Jude Law became
Doctor Watson in
a new way,
not a bumbler by
any means but a
man of action
and thought.

Oscar worthy,
the best acting
by Jude Law ever.

The way the two
expressed concern
and the L word for
each other was very
manly and real.
.

.

Rachel McAdams
as Irene Adler was
just stunning,
she filled out a
character Doyle never
fully explained in the
books and stories.

The sets in the movie
must have cost a fortune,
so very real.

The music perfection.

The screen p[ay
Oscar worthy.

Guy Ritchie’s direction
the best of his career.
.
.
.

Would I see it again?

I bought the DVD,
I worship this movie.

My words can
not do it justice.
