Amy Winehouse is seeking spiritual enlightenment without drugs for a change

AMY WINEHOUSE has missed

a fair few gigs in her time because

she was in a right old state,

The U.K. Sun reports September 1st.

But it was a first when she pulled

out of a festival because she was

in a state of Buddhist relaxation.

The smackhead singer has been trying

to find peace in her chaotic life by

chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.

For those of us who just have a pint

when we need to unwind,

that’s a form of Nicherin Daishonin

Er, right then.

A source said:

“One of her musicians introduced

Amy to Buddhist chanting.

She chants for ten minutes in the

mornings and just before she sleeps.

“Amy has also been watching the

interview clip of TINA TURNER

chanting on YouTube and she

reckons it’s already affecting her

in a positive way.

“She has a string of Buddhist beads

that she chants with,

which she keeps in a red silk scarf.

“She says chanting is filling her life

with positivity while she is trying

to sort herself out.”

Here we’ve mocked up Wino as a

Buddha figure to celebrate her

spiritual awakening.

It would take a hell of a lot of

chanting to calm the furious

organisers of the Rock En Seine

festival in Paris.

They have been considering legal

action for breach of contract after

Amy’s no-show last Friday.

Other fans of Buddhism include

What a surprise.

The mantra Nam Myoho Renge Kyo
is taken from the title of the greatest
teaching of the first recorded Buddha,
known as Siddhartha Gautama.
He lived in India around 500 years
before Christ was born.

The Lotus Sutra teaching declares

that all living beings, regardless

of gender or intelligence,

have the potential to attain Buddhahood.

The chant enables believers to

achieve absolute happiness and

to act with boundless compassion.

Believers say they have then

reached enlightenment.

The same kind of feeling Amy gets

most afternoons when her pals pop

round with pockets full of illegal,

mind-altering drugs, I presume.

This enlightenment has helped

Wino get creative for her gig at

Bestival on the Isle of Wight this weekend.

She is going to dress up as a mermaid,

with her backing singers dolled up as sailors.

The Little Manky Mermaid should

do a cover of Under The Sea.
