John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston never confirmed that they were a couple but it didn’t stop us all speculating when they would be walking up the aisle.

However, last week we brought you the sad news that the pair had parted ways and now John has revealed the reason why.

According to Metro the singer told reporters their relationship didn’t work as they had ‘different chemistry’.

Next thing he’ll be spouting the line it’s not you, it’s me.

He added: “There’s no lying, there’s no cheating, there’s no nothing. I’m sorry the story’s not that interesting.”

You’re right John, it’s not that interesting and he didn’t even slag off his ex, in fact he had nothing but compliments for his former lover.

He said: “Jennifer Aniston is the smartest, most sophisticated person I think I have ever met.”

The pair have been dating since April but John claims he knew things just weren’t right.

He added: “People are different, people have different chemistry, they have different lives. I ended a relationship to be alone, because I don’t want to waste somebody’s time if something’s not right.”

A rep for the pair confirmed the split to People last week. “They had a great time together but they are just in different places in their lives right now.”

With Jen nearly ten years his senior maybe he’ll trade her in for a younger model.
