Blake Fielder-Civil is getting a two year vacation – in prison!
.
AMY Winehouse’s husband was sentenced to 27 months in prison at London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court today for perverting the course of justice after beating up a pub landlord.
Amy, who has been a regular in the public gallery,
failed to show up to see husband Blake Fielder-Civil sentenced.
Fielder-Civil, 26, who admitted the charges,
was told by Judge David Radford he had behaved in a
“gratuitous cowardly and disgraceful” way.
Fielder-Civil and pal Michael Brown had beaten James King, 36,
so badly in June 2006 that he needed plates fitted into his face for a broken cheekbone and still has counselling.
Fielder-Civil and Brown were charged with grievous bodily harm but a trial-fixing plot had been hatched to try to save the pair from jail.
It was claimed Mr King, the victim and key witness,
was to receive a £200,000 pay-off to withdraw his statement and disappear abroad during the GBH trial so Fielder-Civil and Brown would walk free.
They used Anthony Kelly and James Kennedy who had expected £20,000 for acting as middlemen to broker the deal.
But the story was exposed when, unknown to Mr King,
Kelly and Kennedy went to a newspaper trying to sell CCTV images of the original attack.
Brown of Carshalton, Surrey, has pleaded guilty to the same offences as Fielder-Civil.
Kelly, 25, of Chalk Farm, north London, and Kennedy, 19,
of Hatfield, Hertfordshire, who both admitted perverting the course of justice around November last year,
are also being sentenced.
Mr King was unanimously cleared by a jury last month at Snaresbrook Crown Court of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
He withdrew his evidence against his Fielder-Civil and Brown last November but said he had been threatened and bullied into it.
