Rest In Peace Ruslana Korshunova, dead at 20.

New York: Supermodel Ruslana Korshunova,

whose face graced the cover of the European Vogue magazine, fell to her death from her Manhattan apartment building in an apparent suicide, just four days before her 21st birthday.

Korshunova, known for her distinctive long hair and green eyes, died in the fall around 2:30 pm local time yesterday onto the busy Water Street in Manhattan’s Financial District, ‘Newsday’ reported.

Quoting police, the report said it appeared she fell from the balcony of her ninth-floor apartment in the 12-storey building.

Born on July 2, 1987, the stunning model, who walked runways around the world, was originally from the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan.

There was no sign of a struggle in the apartment, a police source was quoted as saying.
It was unclear if anyone else was in the apartment at the time of the fall or if a suicide note was found, the report said.

Korshunova was represented in New York by IMG Models, a top-tier international agency that lists supermodels Kate Moss and Heidi Klum among its clients.

Since 2003, she has appeared on the covers of European editions of Elle and Vogue magazines, and in ads for DKNY, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs and other companies.

The New York Post, the Daily News and Newsday reported. The newspapers cited unnamed officials and police.

Police said the fall was under investigation. Korushnova’s New York agency and a spokeswoman for medical examiners did not immediately return telephone messages.

Originally from the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan, the almond-eyed, flowing-haired Korshunova appeared in advertisements and on runways for such designers as Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci and DKNY. British Vogue hailed her as “a face to be excited about” in 2005.

Her break came when modeling booker Debbie Jones noticed her while perusing an in-flight magazine article about Korushnova’s hometown of Almaty, according to the Vogue report.

“She looked like something out of a fairytale!”

Jones told the magazine.

“We had to find her and we searched high and low until we did!”

  2. What a damn shame. Didn’t anyone see any signs of depression. All of these beautiful babies. Tons of money is made on these babies. They are dragged all over the world, alone. Who looks after their safety & welfare? Counseling should be a mandatory part of modeling agencies!

What a voice! I looked her up after hearing her on cold case.

    There should be protection laws!
