Veteran actor Stanley Kamel dead at 65

Access Hollywood reports that actor
Stanley Kamel was found dead in his
Hollywood Hills home by his agents.
Sources say Kamel suffered a heart attack.

Kamel appeared in numerous TV roles
over the past three decades,
including as Rebecca Gayheart’s
father on Beverly Hills, 90210.

“USA is deeply saddened by the news of
Stanley Kamel’s passing.
Stanley was an amazingly talented
and extremely kind man,
and an important member
of the USA family.
He will be sorely missed.”

Stanley Kamel was a prolific character actor
who has over 80 television appearances during
the last thirty years,
including his role as Kosinski in the
Star Trek: The Next Generation episode
“Where No One Has Gone Before.”.
However, he is best known for
his recurring role on the series Monk
playing Dr. Charles Kroger,
the psychiatrist of the title
obsessive-compulsive detective.

Stanley Kamel was born in
South River, New Jersey
January 1st, 1943.
He passed away in his Hollywood Hills home
of a heart attack April 8th, 2008.

His most famous role for me will always be
Adrian Monk’s doctor Dr. Charles Kroger.
Anyone who has a trusted psychiatrist he
or she has seen for years
(I’m not naming any
names Rash Manly)
can relate to how important
your Doctor can be to your well being.
Kamel’s portrayal of Doctor Kroger showed
a man who actually cared about his patients
on a personal level because he is a caring
human being.
People who knew Stanley Kamel
were well aware playing a wise deeply
caring man was no great feat for the
veteran actor.
Stanley Kamel was almost playing
his real life self as Dr. Kroger.
His family, friends and fans will always
remember him as an engaging charming man,
who’s wisdom and smile we will always cherish.

  1. I knew Stanley in Rheater School at Boston UNiversity. We had a study group together. He was a tall, really nice guy. He was serious about acting but fun to be with. It saddens me to lose a long time ago buddy. Goodbye Stan and God bless.
