A celestial spectacle called a blue moon will grace the night sky Friday.
But don’t expect Earth’s satellite to change color. It only means it’s the second full moon to rise in one month.
The phenomenon, given its name because it doesn’t happen frequently, takes place about once every three years, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
This will be the first blue moon since August 2012, and it won’t happen again until January 2018.
