“In this country,” said Barack Obama in his victory speech six years ago today, “we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let’s resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.”
Nothing stopped Obama from fulfilling this promise, but he never meant what he said. Recently, former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele, who is himself black, summed up Democratic strategy in the 2014 campaign, a strategy abetted by Obama at every turn. “[Democrats] have been playing on this nerve in the black community,” said Steele, “that if you even so much as look at a Republican, churches will start to burn, your civil rights will be taken away and young black men like Trayvon Martin will die.”

The popular factchecking website PolitiFact announced its “Lie of the Year” on CNN Thursday. The distinction went to President Barack Obama’s oft-repeated claim during the health care policy debate that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.”

It was all too obvious last night that the only reason President Obama gave his speech to the nation was that it would have been too embarrassing to cancel it. The result was inconsistent and unsatisfying at any level

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch recently obtained a Department of Defense training manual which lists people who embrace “individual liberties” and honor “states’ rights,” among other characteristics, as potential “extremists” who are likely to be members of “hate groups.”

On Monday, the interest rate on federally-backed “Stafford” student loans doubled from a capped 3.4% to 6.8%. Keeping the interest rate artificially low was a key issue in President Obama’s reelection campaign.
Through high-profile campaign events and his bully pulpit, Obama forced Republicans in Congress to agree to a one-year extension of the lower rates. While lawmakers negotiated a deal to avert the jump in rates over the past weeks, however, Obama was much less vocal about the issue. Even as the rates doubled on Monday, there is no statement on the development at the White House website.

Joseph Goebbels said that “[i]f you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” The Bloomberg-funded ads from Mayors Against Illegal Guns follow Goebbels’s advice perfectly. Here, for example, is a MAIG video of artists repeating “Newtown,” “How many more?” “Enough,” and “As an American” repeatedly. This exemplifies the following advice from Mein Kampf: “But the most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention. It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.”
Goebbels also warned, however, that the Big Lie could be maintained only for a certain amount of time unless the government used its authority to stifle dissent. This is the United States and not a totalitarian regime, so this is simply not going to happen. We will now expose MAIG’s recent ad, in whose circulation Mayor Bloomberg’s money had an apparent role, as a lie that is aggravated by the associated description:

Rush Limbaugh said on Thursday that he is ashamed of the United States for the first time in his life.
The conservative talk show host made the comments in regards to the pending sequestration. Although President Obama and Democrats feel the automatic cuts to federal spending would be detrimental to the country, Rush apparently isn’t buying it.

I confess to being amongst those who have said, “Obama voters are stupid.” Unquestionably, Obama’s re-election campaign strategy is designed to appeal to the stupid, our “sin” nature, and the lowest common denominator of our character.
Obama thrives on pitting the have-nots against the haves. Obama divides Americans by demonizing the haves. Obama’s rhetoric proclaims that the masses have too little because the rich have too much. Can we get real for a moment? The so-called “poor” in America live pretty darn well; two TVs, cable, and two cars.
Alongside race (black hate and white guilt), Obama is exploiting the sin of covetousness to get re-elected.

I couldn’t help but think of the “tragedy and comedy” Janus masks as I watched Joe Biden and John Boehner dutifully sit behind President Obama as he delivered his painfully long State of the Union speech.
Biden’s comedic goofy grins were a knee jerk response to Obama’s overtures to help the little guy, whereas Boehner’s tragic pouts reflected the harsh fact-driven reality that such policies actually hurt Mr. and Mrs. Main Street.
Here are just a few examples of Obama’s glaringly inane propositions.
