FROM Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” to Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats,” tales about wayward lovers are as central to country music as fiddles and steel guitars.
But the stories of unfaithful partners aren’t always fiction – and there are enough REAL cheatin’ hearts in Nashville to light up the country music charts for years to come!
As The ENQUIRER reported, the latest scandal led to the collapse of Jason Aldean’s marriage to wife Jessica Ussery after he was caught kissing former “American Idol” star Brittany Kerr. The “Big Green Tractor” singer filed for divorce on April 26.
Here’s a look at some of the other cheating scandals that have rocked Music City.
In 1993, when Garth was at the height of his career, he admitted in an interview with Barbara Walters that he’d cheated multiple times on his then-wife Sandy Mahl.
Although they claimed to have worked through the issue and remained together for eight more years, one rumor continued to pop up – that Garth was having an affair with also-married country star Trisha Yearwood.
And the talk only intensified with the release of their 1997 duet “In Another’s Eyes,” a song about a man and woman who secretly fall in love while committed to other people.
Garth filed for divorce from Sandy in 2000 and started openly dating his “friend” Trisha in 2002 – less than six months after his divorce was finalized.
They married in December 2005 and continue to insist their romance began only after both were single.
