La Santa Muerte ceremony in Guadalajara

.

Devotees of Saint Death, or

‘La Santa Muerte’, a cult worshipping

the skeletal figure of death, pray

during a ceremony in Guadalajara,

México, Friday Aug. 22, 2008.

Death is commonly honored

as a part of life in Mexican culture,

such as during November’s

Day of the Dead celebrations,

and does not have the same

morbid stigma as in

other societies.
